Business
Process Management (BPM)
BPM – Defined
Business process management is the discipline of managing,
streamlining, and automating business processes in order to
increase profitability throughout an organization.
ELECTRONIC
MANAGER (EM) Provides a Business Process Management Solution.
The
fiercely competitive business world we live in drives us all
to constantly get better at what we do. It is imperative that
not only are business processes identified and understood,
but that those processes are continuously improved by increasing
efficiencies, minimizing variation and driving out costs.
Flexibility
and Security
VHA provides a secure, paperless, and results-driven BPM (Business
Process Management) solution. The VHA Electronic
Manager (EM) solution answers the challenge to
bring consistency and standardization to the business processes
of organizations that have multiple departments, functions
and/or divisions. This is accomplished by an application which
brings standardization to the business processes which exist
between departments, as well as, business processes that exist
within a department. As an illustration, an organization has
four existing departments: Accounting, Estimating, Engineering
and Sales. The Estimating Department has a process for producing
bids, thus possessing its own process and unique content requirements.
However, once a bid is accepted by a customer, all departments
are involved--the Sales Department secures the client’s
approval, they send it to the Estimating Department to make
them aware that their bid has been accepted; to the Accounting
Department so the client can be invoiced; and lastly, to the
Engineering Department so the work can be started on the client’s
project. VHA’s Electonic Manager
also allows for security interdepartmentally and within a
department. Permission
levels can be set for each unique individual.
Permissions can be granted for viewing, editing, creating,
copying and/or deleting and can vary according to job function.
For example, a salesperson in the Sales Department may be
able to view invoices generated by the Accounting Department,
however, they cannot edit the invoices. Further, within the
Accounting Department, some users may only have access to
view financial reports while others in the department can
create them, edit them, etc. All of this flexibility and security
is provided by our EM solution in a user-friendly and easy-to-learn
interface.
Workflows
Business processes consist of a sequence of tasks, inputs,
outputs, and metrics.
A sequence of tasks and assigned owners can also be defined
within a “workflow”. Repetitive workflows, particularly
those that require a high volume of forms and documents, can
be accomplished more efficiently, if they are automated. The
Workflow on the Go
capability within EM
enables the average user to take advantage of these opportunities
to improve efficiency and drive down costs. The coordination
and management of workflows, and the ability to measure cycle
time, are key ingredients of successful Business Process Management.
Process
Blind
VHA Electronic Manager
can serve as a “process
blind” BPM tool by enabling your organization
to quickly institutionalize your key business processes. Regardless
of the current status of your business processes, the EM
solution can be initiated to match your current
or required state, while providing the ability to quickly
affect modifications as your business and its key processes
change. The “process blind’ versatility of the
EM solution will enable
the organization to make frequent and rapid process improvements
with little or no training to the users who execute those
processes.
